Study Skills to Assist Students

Many students need plenty of encouragement when it comes to study, and parents don’t necessarily come equipped with a diploma for assisting them in this area. One of the reasons why students are often reluctant to apply themselves to study is that they lack the ability to put in place a routine that is helpful and conducive to good study habits.

Although the residential facility that your son/daughter attends may have its own policy regarding student study time and location, this will not automatically ensure that good study habits are formed. Senior students will also be expected to pursue their studies while at home during school breaks, placing the responsibility for assisting them to achieve their potential equally between the boarding facility and their family residence.

The Study Skills Guide offers some amazing ideas that can improve students’ concentration and application to their studies. This information relates to:

  • Education and career goals
  • Developing memory skills
  • Multiple ways of learning
  • Time management
  • Reading techniques
  • Preparing for exams
  • Improving concentration
  • Positive attitude and self-esteem

Remember that some students would rather be doing something else rather than study, and that, left to themselves, they may not achieve their goal!
